Reasmey
Lod Cha is a Cambodian stir-fry noodle dish with macaroni elbows, eggs, bean sprouts, garlic, vinegar and soy sauce. Commonly served as street food, Reasmey grew up with this dish being a forbidden treat. Her mother never allowed her or her siblings to eat this street food due to sanitary reasons - the plates and utensils were not properly washed with soap each time. When Reasmey’s mom would go to the market for food shopping, Reasmey and her siblings would sneak off and eat this dish. She remembers hearing the street vendor banging chopsticks on the side of the metal pot, shouting, “Lod cha! Lod cha!”
