Since 2016, Evelyn Rydz has been hosting communal meals made of diverse stories through the participatory community project, Comida Casera. Started in her backyard, the ongoing nomadic project has taken place at a variety of spaces from universities, museums, libraries, galleries, community centers to online exchanges.
Evelyn Rydz is a Cuban-Colombian-American artist who lives and works in Boston creating visual art and participatory community-based projects. She is the recipient of a Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant, Brother Thomas Fellowship, Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship, SMFA Traveling Fellowship, and most recently of the U.S. Latinx Forum Charla Award.

Since 2018, Mel Taing has been an active participant of Comida Casera, creating photo and video documentation and helping to coordinate digital media archives for the project. She is a Cambodian-American artist based in Boston. Mel received her BFA in Film/Video at Massachusetts College of Art & Design and most recently worked as Digital Imaging Specialist at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA. Her work has been featured in The Boston Globe, ArtNet, Garage Magazine, and edibleBOSTON.
