Korean Songpyeon are rice dumplings with a sweet sesame filling. Inspired by a grandmother who was described as an “accidental matriarch” after her grandfather’s passing. Her grandma was the mother of four daughters, the women in her family are all very bold and fun-loving — telling dirty jokes and hilarious stories. During the Thanksgiving holiday, all the women in the family would self-segregate in the kitchen to cook songpyeon and gossip together.
